[edit] Notes

Nils Peterson
I'm interested in working on a children's dictionary. I learned of this from a post Karen did in her blog. The thinking of folks at the Center for Teaching Learning and Technology at Washington State Univ can be found [here].

After writing the above I talked with my daughter (age 6) about her interest in helping write a dictionary. We were discussing the changes in the trees in the fall and she wanted to add "dormant" to the dictionary. On further discussion, she wanted to write "winter" and in addition to a definition, she wanted to add related terms (a conceptual web). She offered dormant and hibernate belong on the winter definition page. This might happen in several ways: wiki category tags, careful use of terms in the definition with links to the associated pages, or a "see also" list of related terms. The latter might work for her most easily.
