Great post Karen, In an ever-changing digital realm, authors often rue the fact that their content gets modified and distributed without suitable acknowledgement. At the same time, sharing is very important as it opens up avenues for the needy worldwide. Creative Commons addresses this problem creatively. It's true that some authors sneer at the idea of remix. It's also true that millions of students can't afford textbooks that their curriculum recommends. Thanks for sharing the resources. I was particularly impressed by http://goo.gl/Snp9g. I'm definitely going to share this article.

I think we still need much more experiments to find different forms of peer-to-peer learning. I am also sure that there probably isn't "one right way" - there are most likely many good ways and many bad ways to organize p2p learning.

One may, however, approach the idea philosophically, too - see it as a pedagogy. When there is the notion of p2p studying it is y definition more participatory. The teachers in a p2p learning situation must respond to the needs and ideas of the learners. He or she is there to serve the learners. Same time the teachers must know that what the learners want is not necessary what they need. The discussion on the topics what the learners want and maybe need must take place early. This many then lead to meaningful structure that is not given by the teachers but build in a p2p spirit.

Karen, I agree that the term is being used to "open-wash" and that, despite our differences in the subtleties of licensing, we would do well to find some solidarity and common agreement sooner rather than later. In terms of "defining OER," I am reminded of the definition of Creative Commons that my friend Brian Lamb once jokingly made; to paraphrase, CC is basically a badge to say "I will not act like an asshole about how you use my content."

If you can believe it, I actually dreamed about this last night!

I still need to work out the details and want to get input from everyone, but I'm thinking about remixing this in Moodle and adding other materials. I would break up the explanations, problems, etc. into small chunks in Moodle and with more interactivity. Then I would add additional content like explanation videos, possibly some interactive games, learning logs, etc.

I'm going to start prototyping a small section to see what this would look like.

I look forward to seeing how some of this shakes out for you. I'm not surprised by the number of people who sign up and do nothing further. I've watched this in other places as well.
Sorry I missed the deadline for your class, but I am following:)
